Printing your wedding Photography

Why printing your images should be on your to do list!

The digital age is awesome - you can snap several pictures a minute and get instant gratification at the back of the camera to see the outcome of your shot. Afterward, you just upload the pictures straight to your computer and you are done. There really isn't a need to spend money on printing your images? At least that's what I thought - until I lost all of my pictures, not once, but twice.

Let me ask you this. How many computers have you had in the last 10 years? How many important moments have you documented on your camera and then uploaded the images to those computers over the last 10 years? I'm betting the answers to both of them is more than you dare say. I know I have gone through at least 4 computers in the last 10 years. All of which held precious memories from my college days, trips I took with friends and family, and fun moments captured on the fly.

Importance of Printing Images

The time I lost them all

Unfortunately none of us can tell the future. Otherwise we could easily anticipate when our computer would crash and we'd make sure to transfer all of our images to another one. At least that's what I would've done before my computer crashed and I lost ALL of my images! Yes all of them! The only ones I have left are the ones on Facebook. However, those obviously don't include any images from the pre-Facebook era. I promise you, I sure wish I would've printed some of those pictures to keep. Wether it was as loose prints, blown up portraits to hang on my walls, or as albums to display proudly on my bookshelf.

This article from Shootdotedit is great when it comes to talking about how to edit your wedding images.

Moral of the story is, we all get caught up in the moment and don't think about the longterm. You don't know when your computer might crash the next time erasing all of
your pictures. And it's so easy to procrastinate getting your images backed up in cloud storage or external hard drives. (And hard drives can die too. But that's a story for another time!). That's why it's so important for you to add printing your images on your to-do list.

Treasure your images

Your wedding photographs also tells a story to your children. They see how happy and in love their parents are and it makes them smile. And each time you walk by your wedding pictures on your wall you'll be reminded of your wedding day. Having printed photographs is a constant reminder of the love you have in your life.

"When planning our wedding, my husband and I were in agreement that the one thing we would not compromise on quality would be photography. We wanted to hire someone who would capture our day perfectly and we found the most amazing photographer in Johanna. Johanna was able to capture beautiful moments that I surely would have already forgotten; it all goes by so fast. She photographed everything from the big moments to the smallest details, everything that we had worked so hard to plan and make perfect was in those pictures.
When I met with Johanna to see our wedding gallery, I was able to relive that day all over again as she displayed her work. I cried! I knew right then how important it was to get those moments in print because you don’t enjoy photos when they sit on a flash drive.
Johanna designed the most amazing wedding album for us, as well as helped me decide on photos to display on canvas. Every time I walk into our bedroom and see those prints on my wall, I am reminded of the best day of my life.
In a world that is so digital, it’s easy to gloss over the importance of holding something in your hand. When our son pages through our wedding album, his eyes light up with excitement. Memories like this are meant to be enjoyed. I am so glad we invested in these photos!"
