The Darlington House Wedding - La Jolla Wedding Photographer
A classic affair, with a vintage touch
The Darlington House in La Jolla, is probably one of our favorite venues in this area. With it's beautiful vintage decor on the inside, and a stunning outdoor reception area, this wedding venue allows you to decorate it to fit your style and personality perfectly.
Throughout the entire venue there are so many cute hidden little spots for wedding portraits. Something which C & T really took advantage of. The way they utilized this space and how they had it decorated both for the ceremony and for the reception was so incredibly stunning.
Love all the way
The build up to this wedding was incredible. Anna had the pleasure of capturing C & T's engagement session last year and ever since she's talked about what an amazing couple they were. Needless to say we were so excited when their wedding day finally came around. Turns our, C is a big instagram fan and have been following along with our shenanigans on our Instagram Stories and was equally excited for us to be there on her big day to take pictures.
From the very start of the day, from the getting ready to the details to the setup you could see how much love and nervous excitement was running through everyone participating in this big day. Not only from C & T but from all of their bridesmaids and groomsmen as well. There wasn't a minute where there weren't laughter and giggles, or a groomsman cracked a joke to make T laugh his nerves off. So much joy in one place that it almost made us tear up!
Who has the rings?
The ceremony setup at the Darlington House is spectacular. The guests are sitting in rows facing the bride and groom who are standing up on a platform, perfectly visible for everyone attending. The tears were flowing from both the bride and the groom as well as all of the friends and family who showed up to support the two love birds.
But it wasn't just sweet words and tears of joy. There were tears from indescribable laughter as well. Because as it came to the ring exchange and the officiant asked who had the rings no one said a word. Expectantly we all turned to look at the best man and he just looked as confused as we all felt. Turns out, he thought the planner had the rings, who in turn obviously thought the best man had the rings. A two minute break, with a groomsman running up to the getting ready room, and the rings were finally where they belonged. Luckily the bride and groom took it all in stride and were laughing right along side the guests. Needless to say, the best man got to hear some jokes about the incident for the rest of the night.
What is a ball at the castle without
A wedding isn't complete without the love and support from friends and family. C & T's wedding was no exception. Once the ceremony was complete all the guests congregated in the little court yard while we finished up some family pictures. With the champagne flowing laughter was echoing along the walls of La Jolla.
The laughter continued in to the reception area, during speeches and dancing. The music was beating loud until the later hours but luckily we manages to sneak away for some evening pictures as well. We even managed to time it right with an oncoming car where C & T were beautifully lit up from the back by the cars headlights. Love when people around us are being helpful and having fun with us!
